Replace Lights On The 2003 Sport Trac

The Two thousand three Ford Sport Trac is the Motor lorry legend of the Ford Explorer SUV. Ford recommends that the lights on the Explorer Sport Trac be checked at least once a week, both the headlights and taillights. Replacing Headlights on the 2003 Sport Trac


1. Turn off the Sport Trac's engine and the headlight switch. Pull the hood Proceeds switch unbefitting the dashboard and exposed the hood.


2. Set the retainer pins endure the headlight case. There are two pins for each headlight case. Pull the pins up to take them out.


3. Pull the headlight case out to access the rear. Unplug the harness from the back of the bulb.


4. Twist off the plastic ring. This frees the headlight bulb.


5. Pull the headlight bulb out. Dispose of it. Insert the new headlight bulb. Push the headlight case back into the Sport Trac's front assembly. Insert the retainer pins and push them down.

Avoid touching the glass to prevent fouling out the bulb. Apply the plastic ring and twist it back on.6. Plug the connection into the rear of the bulb.



Turn off the exterior lighting switch next to the steering wheel and shut off the engine.


8. Lower the tailgate. Examine the edge of the taillight case. You'll see three rubber plugs. Pry them out with a flat-head screwdriver. You'll now see the Phillips screws.


9. Remove the three Phillips screws from the case. Pull the taillight case out. View the back.


10. Turn the bulb counter-clockwise about a quarter of an inch. Pull it out of the case. Grasp the bulb. Pull it out of the socket. Insert the new bulb into the socket. It's okay to touch the glass.


11. Reinsert the bulb. Turn it clockwise about a quarter of an inch. Push the taillight case into place. Insert and tighten the three Phillips screws. Push the rubber plugs back into their holes, and then close the tailgate.
