Instructions

Referencing the identification Emblem is fundamental to an accurate Mustang restoration.Classic Ford Mustangs, or those produced in the 1960s and early 1970s, were assigned a series of numbers to button down the specifications of the van as it left the works. These numbers, along with the vehicle identification digit, were included on an identification badge.Starting in 1970, the metal plate was replaced with a sticker.
3. Locate the interior color number on the identification badge. Note that the badge features two rows. The top row of the One thousand nine hundred sixty five to One thousand nine hundred sixty nine Mustang contains the color number. It is located under the "TRIM" stamp. If the Mustang features a sticker, the number is noted under the "TRIM" stamp.
Note that most color codes for the One thousand nine hundred sixty five to 1969 Mustang were either a single number or a single letter followed by a number. Staring in 1970, all interior codes featured either two letters or one number followed by one letter.
