Fix An Energy Pump Inside A Ford F150

1. Siphon outside as all the more fuel as potential from the container provided the receptacle is not already near empty. Operate a suction pump and place the fuel into a petrol can.2.

You can interchange the comparable sensor whether you include the in fashion pump module; provided the fuel pump is the box, convert the pump and install the contemporary consistent sensor on it.

Instructions

Removing the Fuel Tank

Changing the pump on an F150 can vary depending on the yearThe fuel pump module in a Ford F150 Motor lorry, which is installed within the fuel vehicle, contains the fuel pump and the fuel calm sensor. On most F150 models, you can moderate the flat sensor on the module, on the contrary not the pump.

Disconnect the fuel pump's electrical connector, which is endure a splash shield on the frame censure below the Chauffeur's door (unbolt the shield with a wrench). Dawn the engine and wait for it to stall, depressurizing the fuel step.

3. Disconnect the battery's detrimental cable in the engine compartment.

4. Loosen the lug nuts for the turn later to the fuel tank--usually the left wheel--using your tire iron, up thrust the rear objective of the Motor lorry onto jack stands and remove the shove. Disconnect the cistern's skid plate whether one is installed; remove its nuts with a wrench.

5. Disconnect the fuel and evap lines near the front and rear of the vat; these lines avail quick-connect couplings. Loosen the clamp for the filler neck hose with pliers or a screwdriver and pull the neck off the cistern.

6. Unbolt the vat's collar straps with a wrench while another workman holds the vat up, or stand a floor jack under the container to relieve it. Lower the receptacle until you can access the electrical connectors and filler neck vent hose.

7. Disconnect the hose for the filler neck vent by prying its clamp loose and then unplug the electrical connectors, then lower the vat outside from the Motor lorry.

Removing the Fuel Pump

8. Disconnect all the fuel and EVAP lines from the top site of the module, which should all end quick-connect couplings.

9. Loosen the module's lock call, tapping it in a counterclockwise succession with a hammer and brass punch, then unscrew and remove the telephone once it is loose Sufficiently.

10. Lift the fuel pump module absent of the vat until you can grasp the EVAP path connected to the underside of the module. Disconnect this wrinkle at its quick-connect coupling and then lift the module completely gone of the vehicle.

11. Pull gone and discard the O-ring surrounding the mount gap for the module on the fuel receptacle.

Changing the Pump/Level Sensor

12. Communication how the fuel aligned sensor's wiring is bundled with the fuel pump's wiring and how this wiring harness is routed.

13. Slip off the heat shrink tubing from the electrical connector for the fuel common sensor and disconnect the connector. Shorten the cable tie securing the fuel sensor wiring to the fuel pump wiring with meager clippers or scissors, moulding trustworthy you don't chop any wires.

14. Unbolt and remove the fuel level sensor from the fuel pump module using a humble wrench.

15. Install a current fuel level sensor onto the fuel pump with its mounting bolt, or transfer the contemporary working sensor onto the fashionable fuel pump module--whichever your current needs are.

16. Route the wiring for both the fuel pump and level sensor in the same path that was used before and reconnect the electrical connector. Slip the heat shrink tubing back onto the connector and secure the wires with a new cable tie in the same location that the previous one was in.

Installation

17.Install a new O-ring around the fuel tank's mounting surface for the fuel pump module.

18. Connect the fuel pump module to the evap line in the fuel tank using the quick-connect coupling, then lower the module into the tank. Install the locking ring and screw it in clockwise until it lodges into the recesses in the tank.

19. Re-connect the appropriate fuel and evap lines to the top of the pump module with the quick-connect fittings, and then raise the tank into position on the truck.

20. Plug in the electrical connector to the tank and connect the filler neck vent hose with its clamp and then bolt the tank straps in place with the wrench. Connect the fuel and evap lines at both ends of the tank along with the filler neck and its clamp.

21. Attach the tank's skid plate if necessary with its nuts and the wrench, then lower the truck off the jack stands. Reconnect the fuel pump electrical connector and the battery cable, then refill the tank with the fuel.
