Connect one ohmmeter lead to either distributor connector with the other lead still grounded. Replace the distributor's pickup coil if you get any reading here from the ohmmeter.


6. Test the control unit's continuity by connecting the ungrounded ohmmeter lead and to the designated control unit pin. If you can't get continuity, remove and remount the control unit to try and get a good ground. Replace the control unit if continuity is still not found.


7. Turn off the ignition once you have finished the voltage test.4. Connect an ohmmeter to the designated harness cavities.


Remove the distributor cap's center wire to test the system as a whole. Hold the wire a half inch from the engine block, use a heavy rubber glove and insulated pliers, and press the starter. Replace the control unit if you get no spark and test the system again. Replace the ignition coil if there is no spark this time.
