Coolant Temperature Sensor Specifications

The coolant temperature sensor uses electrical voltage to detector temperature changes. Every manufacturer is different, but typically a reference voltage of Five volts is used to signify a cold engine, and drops to almost Zero volts to reference a warmed up or operational engine temperature.

The coolant temperature sensor, or engine coolant sensor, is usually positioned in the intake manifold meeting to folder exact coolant temperature readings. These readings are reported to the engine's on-board machine for issue.
