Instructions

9. Shut off the vehicle. Locate the distributor bolt under the distributor on the intake. It may be difficult to see. Most Chevrolets have the bolt on the left of the distributor shaft.
10. Attach the distributor wrench to the bolt and loosen one turn.
11. Start the vehicle and allow it to idle.
12. Attempt to rotate the distributor clockwise or counterclockwise. If the distributor will not turn, loosen the bolt until it turns with minimal resistance.
13. Point the timing light at the crankshaft pulley and turn the distributor slowly until the proper timing is achieved.
5. Connect the third lead on the timing light to the spark plug wire for the No. One cylinder. For V6 and V8 engines, this will be the front left cylinder when looking at the front of the engine.
Turn the vehicle off and disconnect the timing light.
