5. Push the new starter where the old starter was located. Start both the bolts before tightening them. This will ensure the bolts catch properly. Tighten the bolts with a socket wrench.


6. Loosen the nuts on the new starter's electrical posts and place the lead wires on them. Tighten the nuts over the posts by hand. Snug the nuts with a socket wrench to ensure they are tight.


7. Reconnect the battery cables with the socket wrench. Ensure the red cable goes on the positive terminal. The positive terminal is designated by a "+" symbol. The negative terminal is designated by a "-" symbol.


8. Start the Jeep to ensure it cranks up. Close the hood.
