Seeping Antifreeze Around The Driver'S Side Of The 1997 Monte Carlo Z34

To protect the engine of your Monte Carlo Z-34 from damage caused by the bitter heat of combustion besides as consummate bitter weather, a 50/50 mix of antifreeze and imbue is circulated buttoned up the cooling system. Many areas of the engine's cooling system are susceptible to an antifreeze leak. Identifying the cause of the leak in your 1997 Monte Carlo is not difficult and requires only a few tools and a knowledge of basic troubleshooting techniques.

Screw the cooling system pressure tester to the radiator in place of the radiator cap. Pressurize the system to Sixteen psi by pushing the knob on the end of the tester in and out. Look for traces of florescent green dye around the intake manifold on top of the engine, on the water pump at the front of the passenger-side of the engine, at rubber hose connections, and around the radiator seams on both sides of the radiator. The dye circulating in the system will make even a small leak easy to detect.

Unscrew the oil filler cap and extension from the front valve cover and lift the plastic engine cover off the engine. Lay the engine cover aside

2. Add coolant dye to the radiator through the opening exposed when you removed the radiator cap. Add water to the radiator until the radiator is full. Then, start the engine. Allow it to run until the coolant is circulating through the engine (the upper hose will get hot to the touch) and then let the engine run for another Ten minutes.

Instructions

1. Turn off your Monte Carlo and allow the engine to cool completely. Pop the hood and remove the radiator cap located on top of the passenger side of the radiator in the front of the engine compartment.
