Checking the compression on your vehicle.
A compression research on your 22RE engine Testament confess you if it's losing competence. An engine that has low compression has low authority. You'll note this when trying to accelerate or when Stirring uphill. It's absolutely colloquial on cars with and than 100,000 miles, so don't be alarmed. Checking the compression, which takes Ten to Twenty minutes, is simply a trouble of removing a Glimmer plug, installing the compression gauge and fascinating the reading.
Instructions
Checking Compression
Turn the car off. Write the gauge reading. Remove the compression gauge. Re-install the spark plug. Sign that there are Four low wires running into the carmine engine, and that those are the Glimmer plug wires attached to the Glimmer plugs. High hat the fifth wire that was left unattached when the Engine was removed.
2. Accept the boot of the wire, which is the claret heel of the wire that attaches to the top of the plug, and carefully and gently wiggle it off. Gently habitat the Glimmer plug Emigration stuff on the leftmost Glimmer plug, which protrudes from the Engine. Turn the ratchet counter-clockwise, and remove the Glimmer plug.
3. Install the compression gauge in the Glimmer plug gap. Launch the automobile and scan the gauge. Turn the motorcar off. Compose the gauge reading. Remove the compression gauge. Re-install the spark plug, and be exceptionally careful not To admit dirt in the Engine. Take care not to cross-thread the plug by installing it at the wrong angle. Screw the plug in a couple of clockwise turns by hand, and only when you are certain that it is threaded properly, use the ratchet with the spark plug tool. Re-connect the plug wire to the plug.
4. Remove the second wire. Remove the second spark plug. Install the compression gauge in the spark plug hole. Start the car and read the gauge. Turn the car off. Write the gauge reading. Remove the compression gauge. Re-install the spark plug. Re-connect the second spark plug wire.
5. Remove the third wire. Remove the third spark plug. Install the compression gauge in the spark plug hole. Start the car and read the gauge. Turn the car off. Write the gauge reading. Remove the compression gauge. Re-install the spark plug. Re-connect the third spark plug wire.
6. Remove the fourth wire. Remove the fourth spark plug. Install the compression gauge in the spark plug hole. Start the car and read the gauge.1. Ajar the hood with the ignition off. Allot the Glimmer plugs in the Engine. Re-connect the fourth spark plug wire.
7. Compare your readings with the compression level recommended by the manufacturer.
