Basic Diagnostics

If the temperature is too high, but the gauge is accurate, you must change your water pump impellers.


5. Flush your fuel system if your boat doesn't start. Clogged fuel systems can keep carburetors from functioning properly. Fill the tank with new fuel. If the boat still won't start, the fuel system is not the problem.

If the scanner finds a problem, it displays an error message. Make a note of the message.9. Select "Output Tests" using the arrows.


7. Press the arrows to navigate to "PCM Functions" and press the button that reads "Yes."


8. Use the arrow keys to choose the "Auto Self Test" option and press the button that reads "Yes." Allow the scanner tool to scan the engine for problems.6. Open the engine case and locate the four-pin connector that attaches to the scanner tool. Plug the tool into the connector.


Select the appropriate test, such as Fuel Injectors or Tach Output and press "Yes." Allow the machine to scan the engine to determine if the part is running correctly.
