Adjust The Idle Speed With An Elderbrock Carburetor

4. Adjust both idle mixture screws with a flathead screwdriver. Turning an idle mixture screw in a clockwise direction will richen the air/fuel mixture, while turning the screw in a counterclockwise direction results in a leaner mixture. Turn either of the screws in either direction until the engine's speed reaches the maximum rpm, then turn the other screw until the engine's speed reaches the maximum rpm.


5. Readjust the idle speed screw first adjusted in Step Two until the desired idle speed is reached.


6. Turn each idle mixture screw until the engine's rpm increases to the maximum level to complete the adjustment.
