Engine Work Stand Mounting Directions

The engine must be stripped down to the block and transmission.

Instructions

1.
Putting an engine on an engine stand is probably the easiest chunk of rebuilding or working on a vehicle engine. There is even bullwork that needs to be done before you yet road mounting an engine on a stand. It starts with removing the battery cables, continues with draining all fluids and beguiling off all components such as fan, altternator, air conditioner compressor and Last of all removing all fuel lines and vacuum hoses.

Attach engine hoist chains to lifting points on the engine, one in front and one in rear, diagonally antithetical. Stand the hoist until all slack is absent from the chains. Remove the bolts in the engine mounts. Bedding the transmission with a transmission jack or blocks of wood, then remove the bolts connecting the engine and transmission. Lift the engine slightly and pull it forward to crystal it of the transmission. Then slowly lift the engine straight up and away of the engine compartment.

2. Roll the transmission on the hoist carefully and slowly to the engine stand. The stand has two horizontal legs on wheels and an upright post which holds a mounting bracket with holes for the engine bolts. The post is adjustable by removing a bolt connecting the top and bottom. Adjust it to a good working height, then secure it firmly with the bolt..

3. Slowly lower the engine until the transmission mounting holes match up with the holes in the engine stand bracket. Insert bolts carefully through the engine holes into the stand bracket. Don't force any bolt. Move until one screws in securely, then add other bolts -- there should be four. Hand-tighten all bolts. When all bolts are in place, tighten with a ratchet wrench.
