1. Probation the oil, brake fluid, coolant, windscreen washer fluid, power steering fluid (provided you chalk up power steering), hydraulic clutch fluid level (if applicable), and the automatic transmission fluid level (if applicable).2.
4. Review the condition of the tires: look for uneven wear and check the tread depth.
5. Look in the engine compartment and under the car for wetness that may indicate a leak.
6. Examine all the belts for cracks. Be sure to check the inside of the belts.
7. Inspect all the hoses: look for cracks, leaks, or hoses that are rubbing and may develop a leak.
8. Inspect the battery for corrosion at the cable ends.
