Replace A 1994 Lincoln subsequently Fan Belt

The self-adjusting tensioner keeps the proper amount of tension on the belt while the engine is running. Look for the tensioner component on the front center of the engine. It has a spring-loaded arm on top and an idler pulley attached to the bottom of the tensioner arm. This allows each engine accessory to perform properly.

Instructions

1. Raise the hood and locate the serpentine belt routing diagram. The diagram can be found on the top flat surface of the plastic fan shroud near the hood locking latch. Follow the directions from this diagram to properly route the new serpentine belt.

2. Inspect the front of the engine and locate the serpentine belt automatic tensioner.

The fan band on the One thousand nine hundred ninety four Lincoln Continental, Aim VIII and Town Machine models is a unmarried zone that is called a serpentine band. The serpentine belt is designed to be routed all over all of the front engine adornment pulleys at the duplicate clock. This one girth operates the alternator, the baptize pump, the air conditioner pump and the air conditioner compressor. When the engine is cranked and running, the zone turns around each of the accessory pulleys. Use the head of the bolt that secures the idler pulley to the tensioner arm to rotate the tensioner.

3. Position the socket and breaker bar onto the idler pulley bolt. Turn the idler pulley clockwise with the breaker bar to move the tensioner. Once the belt is loose, slide it off of the top of the tensioner idler pulley. Release the idler pulley and remove the breaker bar and socket from the bolt.

4. Pull the belt out from around the other accessory pulleys. Slide the belt around each fan blade by turning each of the fan blades to the top side of the engine. Once that the belt is free of the fan blades, pull the belt out of the engine compartment.

5. Compare the new belt to the old belt. Make sure that the new belt is the proper size compared to the old belt. Slide the new belt around each fan blade and onto the bottom crankshaft pulley.

6. Route the belt around each of the other accessory pulleys by following the exact routing directions from the belt routing diagram. Look over the belt and make sure that it is secure'y positioned inside all of the pulleys.

7. Turn the tensioner idler pulley clockwise with the socket and breaker bar. Slide the new belt over the top of the idler pulley. Release the idler pulley and remove the socket and breaker bar from the bolt.

8. Crank the One thousand nine hundred ninety four Lincoln for about five or Ten seconds so that the belt can finish seating to the pulleys. Turn the engine off and close the hood.
