Remove Disc Brakes On The 2006 Chrysler

Most Two thousand six Chryslers are equipped with disc brakes.

Removing the disc brakes on a 2006 Chrysler is similar to removing the disc brakes on any other car similarly equipped. The only special tool you will need is a torque socket set for removing the calipers. Remove the lug nuts with the lug wrench and pull the tire off of the car. Spray the disc brake with brake cleaner to remove any loose asbestos.4.

1. Loosen the lug nuts with a lug wrench but do not remove them. It does not matter which tire you start with.

2. Engage the emergency brake then jack up the vehicle and place a jack stand under the chassis. Lower the jack so that the car rests on the jack stand.

3. The bolts on the back of the caliper look and feel like they will take a hex wrench, but that will only strip the bolt and make your job that much more difficult. If you use the right tools, removing brake pads will be an easy job.

Instructions

Unscrew the two bolts on the back of the caliper with a ratchet and torque socket. Remove the caliper by pulling it straight up off of the disc. Remove the pads from the caliper by prying them out with a flat head screwdriver.

5. Remove the disc by pulling it off of the lug bolts. With the tire off and the caliper removed, there is nothing holding the disc on, and it can be easily removed.

6. Repeat the above steps for each wheel.
