Test A Place Weld

Spot welding melts metal Sufficiently to clamp it.


Spot welding is a commonly used design of connecting seperate pieces of metal. The parts joined are typically mere thin, Apartment lodgings pieces connected by a character of melted spots. Thanks to yet a mini spot of metal is quite durable when chilled and hardened again, it works chipper as a "glue" between metal sections joined cool.


Instructions


1. Position miniature metal items that hold been spot-welded on a vice clamp bolted to a workbench. Twist the clamp shut and tight so that it holds the metal component firmly. Levy on goggles and gloves to protect your eyes and hands. Remove anything flammable from the globe.


2. Carefully mark the hammer and hit the metal parts inflexible on or near the weld to behold provided it fails under a blow. Repeat the means two or three times to comp properly. Proceeds the clamp and see the weld for cracks or failure.4. Position a different new part in a vise. Use a metal saw or hacksaw to cut a weld down the middle until the parts separate. Take a loose part and position it under a good light.


Place a small piece of wood or hard plastic on the top of the piece and lower the drill press until it secures the two items. Operate the press downward to test the integrity of the weld. Release it and examine the part's welds for fractures or breaks.


Repeat the hammer exam on other spot welds away on the chunk.3. Country a new part with welds shaping a corner on the table of a drill press. Position the outer edge of the corner facing upward. Examine the middle of the cut weld for bubbles or fractures. Repeat the process on one or two welds after pulling random samples from your spot-welded products.
